Corporate training is an essential component of any successful business. It helps ensure that employees have the skills needed to perform their jobs effectively, as well as staying up to date with industry trends and regulations. Corporate training also helps foster a culture of continuous learning, which can lead to increased employee engagement and productivity. In this article, we’ll discuss what is corporate training, its types, its advantages, the benefits it can bring to your organization and how to organize one.

What exactly is corporate training?

Corporate Training is an essential part of a company’s investment and growth strategy. It is a
means of providing learners with the knowledge and skills they need to perform their jobs at a high level.

Typically, Learning and Development teams and HR professionals are responsible for identifying training needs, developing training programs, and making them available for employees.

Read what Ratan Tata has to say on this:

Very few people know that Ratan Tata was once offered a job from IBM, but Ratan Tata refused to take the job and worked at Tata Steels as a normal worker just like other employees.

In an interview, he also said that in the beginning of his career, he spent 8 years of his life in training programs on two or three companies’ shop floors. He said that during that time, he thought he was just wasting his time, but later realized that those 8 years of training and learning were his best investment and his best decision, Ratan Tata says, “Listening and learning are the keys to success.”

Yes, indeed, it’s true, right?

In fact, in a graduation speech, Ratan Tata said,

“Just because you got a degree doesn’t mean you should stop learning if you want to be successful in life you should never stop learning”

Let us focus on few advantages of corporate training:

It is critical to the success of any business; your employees are the powerhouse behind what you do, so helping them increase their knowledge and improve their professional skills will only boost your business.

Four reasons why an organization should care about this:

• Increase in efficiency: well-designed training meets employees’ needs, making them more productive and efficient. These improvements will make an organization more profitable over time.

• Increase in motivation: corporate training programs help employees who know their job roles support the overall mission and goals of their company.

• Reduced turnover: young professionals want more than just a pay-check and value employers that offer flexibility, professional development, and a sense of purpose.

• Building corporate culture: such trainings align corporate values and strategy. Such investments show the organization’s interest in investing in its staff for the long term. Isn’t it wonderful to showcase a message stating you are important to us?

A recent survey study found that the cost of replacing workers is at least one-half of an employee’s annual salary.

Types of corporate training programs:

The type of corporate training required by an organization is determined by its size, diversity, and specifics. Here, I am listing a few common types of corporate trainings conducted:

1. One-board and orientation: Such trainings are conducted right after an employee joins and are continued until he is able to work independently. There are two kinds of training: new-hire training and on-the-job training.

This is flexible and is usually in two parts.

A) Training for all new hires;
B) Training specified for a particular role

2. Compliance training—such trainings are mandatory in nature and often part of NHT. These are focused on the company’s policies or rules that enable both employees and employers to prevent problems at work.

3. Hardskills training: There is always room for improvement for each of us. These programs are at the heart of employee development, helping to improve the skills required to be better professionals, who must be trained on a regular basis to stay up to date on the latest developments.

4. Soft-skills training—behaviour at the workplace—is equally important. These programs relate to interpersonal relationships, communication, and problem-solving skills.

5. Product knowledge training: such programs are related to knowledge refreshers on features, benefits, uses, and costs. The objective is to improve customer satisfaction while also increasing revenue and ROI.

Ways to organize corporate trainings:

Effective methods are:

a) Instructor-led classroom training: It is the very definition of “old school” learning. A 2018 survey by Training magazine found that 32% of organizations use traditional classroom-based training for almost one-third of their overall training.

b) Virtual instructor-led classroom training: This allows instructors to deliver lectures, show videos, conduct break-out sessions, lead discussions, and observe learner performance. These can be recorded and accessed for review at a later date.

c) Online learning: it is now the “new norm” for corporate training. Between 2002-2018, corporate use of online learning grew by 900%. It can include any number of learning products, including eLearning or micro-learning modules, games, assessments, learning activities, videos, and discussion boards. Job aids and learning documents, for example, can be saved in “.pdf” format to create digital content that learners can access.

d) Blended learning: It combines classroom-based training and online learning into one curriculum. Bringing these two methods together can create a learning experience that captures the best of each method.

Conclusion

Training for your employees is an important part of any business; it’s a way to make sure your workers are all on the same page and understand the standards of your company, as well as how to complete their work effectively. When you have trained employees, your business will run much more smoothly. If your business has an online presence, you may want to consider offering online training courses. This will allow you to reach a wider audience and teach people about the products or services you offer. While some people prefer the in-person experience of live training, others find it easier to commit to completing a course online.
